By Jen Tronson for the Shelby Promoter : On Saturday, Dec. 28, many families took advantage of a wonderful holiday opportunity provided by the Toole County Friends of the Library, a Christmas party at the Shelby Carousel! Free carousel rides, the opportunity to play on the cars and the pedal helicopter and a free ice cream cone were all included for anyone who came between 2 and 4 p.m.
The Carousel Rest Area of Shelby was a dream of mechanical genius, Mr. Harry Benjamin. Not only did he have the idea, he spent years making it a reality- putting in time, money and physical labor to guarantee it would be a success. The Carousel is a non-profit, relying on donations, events and volunteers to keep it going. It is also open different weekends throughout the year for people to come and enjoy, watch the Carousel Rest Area of Shelby Facebook page for times and different fun events.
Anyone can book the Carousel for an event. If you'd like more information or to reserve it contact Shawn at (406) 460-2195, or Cliff at (406) 460-3875. Birthday parties, no matter what age, receptions and family reunions are all welcome and encouraged to utilize this great facility.
The hosts of the Christmas party at the Carousel, the Toole County Friends of the Library, is also a great group of people who help with fundraising events for special needs and projects at both the Shelby and Sunburst libraries. They help cover any expenses that exceed the county budget. They meet the first Thursday of every month and dues are only $10 per year. For more information on the Toole County Friends of the Library call (406) 424-8345.
